A joint meeting and lunch will be held with the Ashfield and District Historical Society. ADHS President Mark Sebolch will speak about the Abergeldie Estate of Dulwich Hill and the legacy of the owners, the Dixson family.
Abergeldie, located on Old Canterbury Road, was owned by Sir Hugh and Lady Elizabeth Dixson from 1884 until Sir Hugh’s death in 1926. After his death local politicians battled over who had claims on the property which was eventually developed into residential lots in 1928.
Mark will tell us the story of the estate and the political wrangling and provide insights into how events in local history have shaped our area and social environment.
