Sydney Park brick kilns:renewal works

A presentation by Max Rosin-Mesler and Glenn Merry (City of Sydney Council).

When: Saturday 24 August 10.15am for 10.30am start

Where: Herb Greedy Hall, 79 Petersham Road, Marrickville

The City of Sydney Council is looking to carry out stabilisation and preservation works on the Sydney Park brick kilns and chimneys. The work is being done in conjunction with architects Tonkin Zulaikha Greer (TZG) and landscape architects JMD design.

Sydney Park contains a number of brick making structures from the industries that dominated this area in the 19th and 20th centuries. The project will also renew the environment around the brick kilns and provide interpretations of the important industrial and cultural history of the site. A history of brick-making in our area can be read at ‘Building Blocks of Empire’ on this website.
